GRAPHIC DESIGN

For a long time, people thought I knew a lot about graphic design. I have no idea why. I never claimed to know anything about nor had I ever claimed to go to school or take any classes for it. I’ve worked in Internet marketing and advertising and know about search engine optimization, pay per click, and targeted traffic and how to write articles specifically for the web, but I don’t know how to actually design a website. I don’t know how put graphics on it and make it look really pretty. Someone else always took care of that end for me. I’d see the final product and say whether or not I liked it. But it wasn’t like my approval meant anything. Even if I said I hated it, the company still would have gone forward with that design if they wanted it. I think the thing is more people know what graphic designers do or have an idea of what they do than web content writers or other marketing analysts. It’s only natural for them to lump them altogether into one, singular category. There probably is someone out there who performs all three jobs for himself or a company, but that’s not me.
