GRANT WRITING
So I worked in Chicago email marketing for a few years and then got into printer repair. Basically, I went around different office buildings, repairing printers and fax machines whenever there was a problem. Sometimes, I’d just swing by just to make sure nothing was wrong. After that, I did some grant writing and now I’m a janitor. Yes, I am perfectly aware that that’s somewhat of a step down for me. I can’t help it. The company I was working for closed down and I job hunted for months and months. I had a friend who worked on the maintenance staff and he got me in despite the fact that I had no experience or background in this kind of work at all. Its like my father always said about finding a job. It’s not about what you know. It’s really all about who you know. So I’m working this job in the meantime. Something better will eventually crop up, I’m certain. Sure, I don’t mopping up all these filthy floors or bagging up all the dead mice and washing the windows, but it’s humbled me. And I’m getting a steady paycheck from it. What more could I ask for? Well, there’s always more, but you know what I mean.
