I’m getting a handle on my home office with the help of Marty. She is such a joy to have around. My niece is also a very interesting individual. She is mature for her 13 years. I don’t know many kids who are planning their life at such an early age. But I guess in our family it seems the kids pick up at an early age that it is up to them to live their own lives, and it’s a good idea to start as early as possible. Thank Grandma and Grandpa for drilling that into all our heads. I am still looking for new data storage solutions for my home office, and thanks to Marty, I can concentrate on researching all the different angles. Marty is one who I can leave alone in my office and know she will do what I asked her to, and I don’t have to worry about her messing up my work. As a matter of fact, I think I will hire her to input some of my information into my computer. She is very good at doing a little typing. She had been using a computer since she was in kindergarten. She can probably even type up some short correspondence for me.

When I was younger and my parents upset me, I used to tell them that I couldn’t wait to put them in a home. I doubt there was a lot of forceful threat in my voice given that I was around 12 at the time, but my uncles and cousins insist I sure was funny. In fact, Uncle Ralph even brought home all these brochures for senior living Atlanta, senior living Chicago, and senior living Miami. He tacked a few up on the fridge with magnets and handed me the rest, telling me to flash them to my parents whenever they got me mad. So when they told when I was 15 that only rich people paid for driving school and then got their licenses, I whipped the Miami brochure out of my pocket and pitched it up into their faces, screaming, “I’m putting you in a home to die! To die! I hate you! I hate you!” Naturally, this did not lead to me going to driving school and getting a license. I did since I dipped into my savings and paid for it myself, but that’s not the point. I made my mother break down crying and my father just stared at me. If they had just told me that they didn’t want to pay for it, I would have respected that decision. But the fact that they lied to me and it wasn’t even a good lie is what really angered me.

My parents are thinking of a new investment to help them pay for the home and the bills that seem to never stop piling up. They recently when to New York City to talk with a friend who wants them to back a little company he is, or has I cannot remember, started up that helps people file Washington DC Chapter 13. They figured a financial investment like this could help offset their cost of living. They are also still looking into real estate and hope to buy a place within the next year or so that they can rent out and basically have it pay for itself and still turn a profit. My parents have become quite the entrepreneurs since we all have moved out. These are things they have probably been wanting to do for years but putting four kids through private schools then getting them off to college probably sidetracked them for a couple of years. They have also almost completely remodeled the house and are getting a patio for the back yard. It makes me kind of sad that I am not doing as well as they expect I am sure. I thought I would be on my feet by now and be able to handle everything, at least financially but I still have to ask for help sometimes.

I’ve got the day off from work today! That order of machine aluminum that we were expecting never came. We need it for a new project we were planning to start this week. The management doesn’t have anything new for us to start until we get that shipment, so everyone got some unexpected paid leave. It’s awesome! I’m trying to figure out what I’m going to do today. I may head over to the beach. I have been wanting to go surfing for the longest time. I’m toying with the idea of calling up this one girl I recently became acquainted with to see if she’d like to join me today. I have a feeling it could be really fun! It’s perfect weather outside and I know she also likes to surf. I could call up my buddies to see if they want to go too, but I think I like the idea of calling her up better. Ha! If she thinks that sounds like a good idea then maybe afterward I can take her somewhere to eat or we could rent some movies. Well, if I’m going to try and make plans like this for today then I better start calling!
